The research: Researchers from St. Michael’s Hospital Risk Factor Modification Centre administered two ounces of nuts to type 2 diabetics daily as a replacement for carbohydrates. The replacement was effective in controlling glycemic and serum lipids, and did not lead to weight gain. The study concluded that mixed, unsalted, raw, or dry-roasted nuts are effective in helping manage diabetes.
