Regular sour cream generally costs more than plain yogurt. Here's how to make a faux sour cream for less money.
1. Line a fine sieve with cheesecloth or a light tea towel and set over a bowl. Add 16 ounces plain yogurt (nonfat or full fat). Let sit in the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight to drain.
2. Transfer the drained yogurt to a container and stir in 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
Use as you would sour cream.
