Let’s talk tree hugging
I really enjoyed your article on ecofriendly living (“Home Green Home,” April 2007). I would love to see this become a regular feature in every issue. The changes are easy to implement, and they go a long way toward altering our habits and improving our health.

Spot’s smile
In your article on aging pets (“Old Friends,” March 2007), you recommend twice-yearly professional teeth cleanings, which is excessive and can even be dangerous. This procedure must be performed under general anesthesia—risky even for healthy, younger animals. Several professional cleanings during the pet’s lifetime are wise, but relying on the vet to maintain regular oral health is the sign of a lazy owner.

Good feedback, Lisa. Although opinions differ, a spokesperson at the Capron Veterinary Hospital Dental Clinic for Pets in Tulsa, Oklahoma, advises that pets should have their teeth cleaned by a pro once a year, on average.

That’s the spirit
One evening, I was having a particularly down time, feeling sad and a bit put-upon. I grabbed a copy of Delicious Living and read some inspiring words that picked me up and set me back on my feet. It may have been small, but it was important.
