Twenty-five years ago, Doug Greene, the founder of New Hope Natural Media, published the first edition of Delicious! (later expanded to Delicious Living). At the time, Greene owned a natural products store in New Hope, Pennsylvania. His goal was to share all he knew about the then-fledgling health-food and natural products world so that his customers would know how to use or cook with the wonderful products he sold in his store. (Remember when people thought healthy food always tasted awful? To dispel this reputation, he chose the name Delicious!)
This month, we're thrilled to celebrate Delicious Living's 25th anniversary. To this day, the magazine is driven by the same purpose on which it was founded: to be an educational tool to inspire readers to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. From antioxidants to probiotics, lactose free to gluten free, stevia to vitamin D, we continue to bring you the latest information on food and supplement trends, as well as natural ways to tackle common health problems. Of course, the recipes have always been a highlight, so to commemorate our anniversary we've collected some favorites in “Our All-Time Best Recipes.” You'll find even more by downloading our 25th Anniversary Cookbook.
It seems fitting that our anniversary issue is also our family health guide; after all, eating well is the foundation of health. The earlier we share healthy diet choices with our children, the better chance they have of avoiding health issues such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, and even heart disease. In “The Stay-Trim Family Diet,” page 28, writer Matthew Kadey, RD, offers tips for identifying if your family is in a food rut and how to change bad habits. If you feel stuck in your ways, at deliciouslivingmag.com you'll find more than 1,300 unique, healthy, and delicious recipes to feed yourself, your family, and your friends. And if you have a favorite, please be sure to tell us about it.
