While there are thousands of existing charities across the globe, many lack three vital aspects for success: awareness, funding and following. Dale Partridge and Aaron Chavez, founders of the online T-shirt company Sevenly.org, found a way to support nonprofits around the world.
Every week, Sevenly.org partners to raise money for a different organization through T-shirt sales. “A unique and fashionable T-shirt, promoting that particular charity, is offered for sale through the Sevenly website,” Organic Connections reports. “For every T-shirt sold, Sevenly gives $7 to that charity. At the end of the seven-day campaign, the charity is sent a check for the money raised.”
Since it’s inception in 2011, Sevenly.org has raised nearly $250,000 for charities worldwide, working for issues such as building wells for clean water, providing free wheelchairs for the physically disabled and disaster relief. How do Partride and Chavez choose the charity? “We don’t pick based off of size or influence; we really pick based off of impact,” explains Partridge.
