If you're in Colorado on Sept. 15, take your kids to Isabelle Farm Family Day to connect your whole clan with real food, farmers and fun.
Here’s a fantastic way to spend next Saturday: On Sept. 15, the Growe Foundation and Isabelle Farm are teaming up for the 2nd annual Isabelle Farm Family Day. (Check out this photo gallery from last year’s event.)
Tickets, which you can buy online, are a screamin’ deal: You can buy a Family Pass (2 adults, 2 children) for $59, a Child Pass for $15, and/or an Adult Pass for $20. You’ll get a delicious lunch, along with fun kid activities, farm tours and hay rides and live entertainment.
All proceeds benefit the Garden to Table initiative, a school-garden and nutrition program now active in 18 local schools across four cities and reaching over 7,500 students.
<strong "="">Why spend your day at the farm? Because first, it’s a super fun thing to do with kids, and second, it’s a chance to support an organization that’s making a difference in kids’ health, literally from the ground up.

“The main thing we want to get out there is how the Garden to Table program is addressing children’s health and environmental issues by providing school lessons that reconnect children to the food system and teaching them how their food choices impact the health of their bodies and the environment,” says Growe Foundation founder Bryce Winton Brown.

“We train teachers and parents how to integrate healthy and sustainable living into the academic curriculum—for example, as part of a first-grade science lesson on plants, kids come out to the garden and collect lettuce, radishes, etc. Building this type of relationship to nature is how we will instill the values necessary to counter GMO efforts,” he says.

“This spring 475 pounds of lettuce was harvested and used in school salad bars as a part of Rainbow Day Garden Salad Celebrations; kids got stickers for eating their vegetable colors!”

New to the Farm Family Day this year is the addition of a Fish to Farm Dinner, a five-course meal featuring chefs from award-winning Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar in Boulder and Ft. Collins. You’ll get to meet the chefs and farmers, walk around the farm fields, and enjoy a terrific dinner and wine at a beautiful long community table overlooking the farm. All-inclusive tickets are $125, but don’t let that stop you; it all goes to the Foundation.

All events are at Isabelle Farm, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (dinner from 6-9 p.m.), 1640 West Baseline Road, Lafayette, CO 80026, just west of Highway 287. See you there!
