While past studies have linked resveratrol–the potent antioxidant found in grapes, red wine, and peanuts-with anti-inflammatory benefits, groundbreaking human research matches these results, supporting resveratrol's use for heart, brain, and joint health.
According the study published online in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, taking Polygonum cuspidatum (PCE) extract containing 40 mg resveratrol daily suppressed inflammation and oxidative damage in healthy adults by reducing the expression of two major inflammatory molecules and a protein that these molecules produce.
Though results are encouraging, researchers say there is the possibility that another compound in the PCE was to thank, so expect longer-term studies.
