Try this refreshing summer recipe for a Boulder Tangerine Bourbon Sour, infused with tangerine-cinnamon tea.
This refreshing cocktail, called the Boulder Tangerine Bourbon Sour, is a lovely new way to enjoy tea. It's the creation of mixologist Kasi Tenborg at the Boulder Dushanbe Tea House, who demonstrated how to make it last Wednesday underneath the teahouse’s beautiful arbor. Kasi will be leading a new “Tea and Cocktails” class on Saturday, July 28, as part of the annual Rocky Mountain Tea Festival (July 28-29).
Boulder Tangerine Bourbon Sour
1 ½ ounces Maker’s Mark Bourbon
1 ounce Sour Mix (see below)
1 ounce Boulder Tangerine Syrup (see below)
1. Add ice to a cocktail shaker and add bourbon, sour mix, and Boulder Tangerine Simple Syrup. Shake well. Pour over ice cubes. Garnish with cherry and orange.
To make Boulder Tangerine Simple Syrup, strongly steep about 1 teaspoon Boulder Tangerine Tea (or 2 teabags of any citrus or fruit tea) in 1 cup water. When steeped, add 1 cup sugar and simmer, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
To make homemade Sour Mix, combine 1 part fresh lime juice with 3 parts fresh lemon juice and 4 parts simple syrup (above water-sugar mixture without the tea infusion).
