Bird Friendly
Ensures farmers maintain the natural vegetation of the ecosystem (the environment’s natural trees and plants are often lost because of technological farming developments that decrease the need for the natural tree canopies), providing homes for migratory birds, small mammals, and insects. Twenty-five cents per pound of bird-friendly coffee sold goes to the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center’s conservation efforts.
Rainforest Alliance Certified
Indicates farmers went through a rigorous review process to determine they actively protect the environment, wildlife, workers, and local communities. Measures taken include water-contamination controls, soil conservation, ecosystem protection, decreased water use, and improved worker conditions.
Fair Trade
Promotes a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship between growers and consumers through fair crop prices and safe working conditions for farmers, direct trade between producers and importers, and chemical-free farming practices.
