If you want your spouse to stop smoking, lose weight, or even get a flu shot, maybe you should lead by example. Married people whose spouses improve their health behavior are more likely to follow suit, according to recent research performed at the Yale School of Public Health. Study participants were five times more likely to quit smoking, 50 percent more likely to start exercising, and five times more likely to get a flu shot if their spouses did the same. Use these tips to improve your — and your spouse’s — health.
- Take dance lessons!
(it’s a fun way to exercise together) - Start taking vitamins and set them out for your spouse
- Spark friendly competition by signing up for a race together
- Make at least one more vegetarian dinner per week
- Switch to whole-grain pasta every time
