Ever felt stuck with nagging health problems, like joint pain, a stuffy nose or frequent headaches? If so, you’re not alone. Problems like these are often what stand in the way of our wellness goals and nudge us to visit our doctor. Although doctors often prescribe pain relievers or other medications for such issues, you may desire a deeper look at underlying factors and natural remedies.
The first step toward a holistic solution is to identify your biggest health frustration. That can help you pinpoint the best strategies to overcome your symptoms.
Often you can explore symptom triggers and solutions on your own. “Simple” strategies like eating healthy, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, managing stress and controlling your environment can often improve health issues. Other problems are trickier and may require the help of a skilled integrative and functional medicine practitioner. (Find one at ifm.org/find-a-practitioner.)
Either way, you don’t have to just live with your symptoms. To illustrate how you might tackle troublesome health problems, we chose three common ones and provided a sample road map of how to navigate a path to wellness.
