If your skin is acting up, it may just be hungry. According to Ann Louise Gittleman’s book, The Living Beauty Detox Program (HarperSanFrancisco, 2000), skin must make do with the body’s leftover nutrients, even though it has nutrient needs of its own. Here’s an array of extras to treat problems and give your skin a boost:
- ACNE: Zinc, vitamins A and B6, acidophilus, essential fatty acids, chromium, a sugar-free diet
- DRY SKIN: Vitamins A and E, essential fatty acids
- LARGE PORES: Vitamins A and B
- OILY SKIN: B-complex vitamins, particularly B6
- PALENESS: Iron, folic acid, vitamin B
- WRINKLES: Protein from meat, poultry, fish and legumes; vitamin A
