Sure, it was a small-town affair, but we're proud that a reader won the top prize in a pie-baking contest with a Delicious Living recipe.
As Delicious Living’s food editor, I love hearing about readers making and then raving about our recipes. Last week, one of DL’s Retail Account Managers, Mia Chambers, told me that she attended the Jamestown 4th of July festival, an annual event in a small Colorado mountain town, which featured a pie-baking contest and auction to raise funds for our wonderful Colorado firefighters.
And which pie took first place? That’s right: the Fresh Blueberry Tart that appeared on our June 2012 cover.

Mia says the pie baker picked up the issue at her local Vitamin Cottage and modified it a bit (apparently she used whipped cream instead of honey yogurt) but kept the shortcake crust and, of course, the gorgeous fresh blueberries. I was delighted to hear it took the top prize.
