Delicious! asked experts Dana Ullman, M.P.H., Stefan Ball, and Robin Dipasquale, N.D., chair of Bastyr University’s botanical medicine department, to answer the following questions:
Question:
What is your favorite remedy?
Answer:
Ullman: My favorite homeopathic remedy is pulsatilla. It is the leading remedy given to children for earaches, respiratory infections and digestive complaints, as well as to women with menstrual problems.
Dipasquale: White chestnut is my favorite flower essence because it is useful with relaxation and meditation by assisting in clearing persistent, unwanted thoughts and opening the way to peace of mind.
Ball: My favorite flower essence is impatiens because it’s the remedy for my type of personality. People who know me say they are amazed to learn that this is my main remedy because I seem so calm and patient — but that’s because I take impatiens!
Question:
What do you see as the remedy of the future?
Answer:
Ullman: As homeopathy gains more attention and respect, pulsatilla will be in first aid kits at child care centers and schools, as well as in the purse of any woman who wants to be prepared.
Dipasquale: If I had to select just one essence, it would be walnut. Walnut has the ability to stabilize [emotions] during transition periods. As a culture, we are in a major transition period and will be for some time. Walnut can help people move on from what they feel they “should do” to what they feel they need to do to raise consciousness in themselves and in others.
Ball: I would also choose walnut. It protects against change and helps us adjust and make changes more effectively.
