Beauty wisdom for the ages
Aging. For some, it conjures up thoughts of a seasoned mind and vibrant community; for others, sagging skin or aching joints. Sometimes it’s about time past, yet the focus may also be on experiences gained. Regardless of the perspective, for all of us, aging is inevitable. So how can we approach it in a way that is satisfying, fulfilling and forgiving?
Aging and beauty are ever-evolving concepts, with emerging science helping us to understand what’s really happening in the body as wrinkles sketch our skin, gray dusts our hair and our bodies start to feel different. Thanks to telomere science, nutrigenomics, and skin care and wellness technology, we know better than ever before how to best evaluate our needs and improve the process, and experience, of aging.
We are also more equipped to tackle today’s most common conditions with diet and supplements, as well as support our outward appearance with natural remedies. A global understanding helps as well: In Blue Zones, where people live longer-than-average lives (and often more fulfilling ones), diet, lifestyle, and even community and state of mind all influence how graceful the aging process is.
Perhaps the biggest shift, though, has been in our perception of beauty. The idea of antiaging has evolved into healthy aging, which has led to more demand for gentler (but still effective) beauty aids to replace caustic chemicals and invasive procedures. And with this changing view has also come a more loving and holistic approach to aging that factors in not just how we look but also how we feel and the positive ways we affect the environment and society. A glowing complexion, perhaps … but also a beautiful mind and soul, as well as a fulfilling life.
This topic inspired us so much that we wanted to hear what some of our favorite healthy-living influencers and change makers had to say (read on!).
