8 tips for eating vegetarian and vegan with kids
Start with familiar recipes made vegetarian or vegan
When making the switch from meat eating to vegetarianism or veganism, you can ease the transition with altered versions of family-favorite meals. For instance, if your kids love spaghetti and meatballs, try zucchini “noodles” with fresh-made tomato sauce and mock meatballs. Bake homemade veggie pizzas instead of meat-topped pies. Replace stir-fry pork with tofu. Make “hot dogs” with marinated carrots. Try vegan mac ’n’ cheese. Once the kiddos get used to meatless meals (or vegan entrées), get more adventurous with your menu.
