Keep your windshield frost free

Because salt lowers the temperature at which water freezes, you can use it to keep your windshield and other car windows free of ice and frost. Just soak a sponge in saltwater and wipe down all of the glass—both on the inside and outside—and let it dry. This should give you clear viewing on the road even if the temp drops below 32 degrees.

You can also re-salt on the fly by keeping a small cloth bag (a cheesecloth works great) full of salt in your car. Take the next opportunity to pull over and rub the bag all over the wet windshield and other windows.
