Keep cement cracks clear of weeds

If you’ve got grass or weeds cropping up between patio stones, sidewalk slabs or driveway cracks, eradicate them without harmful chemicals. Sift salt onto the unwanted sprouts and into any crevices that could become trouble spots. Let it sit all day or even overnight, then pour hot water over each spot. The salt will dehydrate the plants currently growing and make the soil beneath too saline for new ones to take root. You may need to repeat the process once or twice.
