10 clever uses for coffee grounds
Repel insects and other pests
Unlike earthworms, ants, slugs and snails don’t like coffee one bit. It’s too acidic for their tastes, and certain compounds such as caffeine are toxic to these garden pests. To keep unwanted insects and other critters away from your plants, sprinkle grounds around the perimeter of garden beds to create a blockage. To stop pests from pestering you and your patio guests, do the same thing around seating areas, or place a few small containers of coffee grounds nearby.
