Wash with biodegradable soap
Scrubbing dishes, hands and bodies will an all-purpose biodegradable soap such as Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Soap will do less environmental harm than using a chemical-laden option. But remember: Just because a soap is biodegradable doesn’t mean it’s harmless to land and water. You still need to use it sparingly and about 200 feet away from rivers, lakes and streams. Dig a hole about 6 inches deep to dispose of soapy water.
