6. Keep everything clean
This may seem like common sense, but it’s important to make sure your utensils and platters are clean. To prevent foodborne illness, don't use the same platter and utensils for raw and cooked meat and poultry.
If you’re not at your home, find out if there’s a source of clean water where you are going to eat. If not, bring water for preparation and cleaning. You can also pack clean cloths and moist towlettes for cleaning surfaces and hands.
