The research: Researchers from the Marshall University School of Medicine implanted human breast cancer tumors into mice and then fed half of the subjects walnuts. The tumor growth rate of the walnut-consuming mice was significantly less than those mice not eating walnuts. Walnuts are rich in fatty acids, phytosterols, polyphenols, carotenoids, and melatonin, which are all components that may slow cancer growth.
