Finally! An FDA ban on trans fat—and where it still hides
Trans fats (or trans fatty acids) aren’t good—that we’ve known for years. In fact, many doctors consider trans fats the worst type of fat you could eat because of the double whammy: it both raises your LDL (bad) cholesterol and lowers your HDL (good) cholesterol.
Citing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown said taking trans fats out of the food supply could prevent 10,000 to 20,000 heart attacks and up to 7,000 heart-related deaths a year.
