Now here’s a cool concept from a company that I’m already a big fan of. Eco Lips, a certified B Corp that makes natural, organic and fair trade lips balms (my fave is the One World line, formulated with exotic oils like argan and tamanu), has created a customize-your-own-balm website, my.ecolips.com.
How does it work? Simple.
Step 1: Choose your ingredients (bases that are both vegan and beeswax, endless combos of natural flavors, herbal extracts, and specialty oils).
Step 2: Design your container, from the size to the color.
Step 3: Name your balm!
In addition to being superfun and interactive (and presenting the opportunity to give the perfect gift to that person you never know what to buy … you know who you are), this website represents the growing shift toward personalization—a trend that’s becoming prominent in the nutrition and even beauty industries.
Many of us who crave simple, pure ingredients in our products also want to choose ingredients that are best for our specific skin types, health needs, etc. and personalization from companies like Eco Lips make this made-just-for-you concept possible.
So what’s my flava? My chapstick is a combination of some of my favorite moisturizing ingredients for dry Colorado weather (a base of organic olive oil and beeswax with baobab, coconut, and jojoba oils) plus antioxidants that help protect from harsh sun and elements (acai and pomegranate).
I also love the idea of creating seasonal varieties that are best suited for rain, humidity, sun and of course your mood.
Now, I know I said this makes a perfect gift … but today, it's happy birthday to ME!
