The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has identified another adulterated male sexual enhancement product being illegally sold as a dietary supplement. The agency issued a consumer alert on Nov. 19, advising men to stop using Vigor-25 because the product was found to contain sildenafil, a drug that can interact with nitrates and dangerously lower a person’s blood pressure. FDA also announced that it is investigating the reported death of a 26-year-old man that may be linked to the use of Vigor-25.
The FDA has identified the male sexual enhancement category as one that is ripe for the infiltration of adulterated dietary supplement products. Earlier this year, the agency brought misdemeanor charges against several people selling sexual enhancement supplements tainted with active pharmaceutical ingredients.
