Q. What is the most common question you get from your shoppers?
A. It depends. They might ask about products for a special diet, say wheat-free, but in general when people have a question, they’re looking for specific information on a product and its location in the store.
Q. What’s the store’s best-selling item and why?
A. Cold Snap is one of them. It’s from a local company out of Evergreen, Colorado, and customers say that it works to ward off colds. It’s a blend of 20 different herbs and it’s one of our big sellers, but it certainly depends on the season. In January we go through general health and weight-loss products as part of New Year’s resolutions, and it continues into the spring with people trying to keep up their healthy lifestyles.
Q. Which are your favorite natural products?
A. Lately I’ve been into skin-care products. What you put on your skin can be absorbed into your body, and not absorbing more chemicals is important. I love Avalon Organics CoQ10 Wrinkle Defense Creme. I like the smell. I like the texture. I like the antioxidant value and its skin-firming action. Nature’s Gate also makes a lotion I love with a neroli orange and chocolate mint scent.
Q. To what do you attribute the success of your stores?
A. World-class customer service. The staff, their product knowledge, and their beliefs are why they work here. They are in the service industry for a reason; they are here to share their knowledge. I equate it to a football team: There’s a certain team, and they’re going along doing fine, and then you add a couple of key players and suddenly you’re a national championship team. That’s the level I feel we’re at.
Q. What’s your best shopping tip?
A. I would tell people not to be afraid to ask for help. Don’t ever leave without getting all of your questions answered.
