Each month, we challenge you to set a simple but life-changing goal. You’ve got this!
It’s a new year, and we’re still focused on our families’ immune health. Here are three nutrients—and foods where you’ll find them—to improve your kids’ immunity.
Vitamin C, of course, contributes to the body’s immune system. It also benefits the formation of collagen, blood vessels, cartilage, and muscle and helps in the absorption of iron. You’ll find vitamin C in kid-friendly citrus fruits, berries, and red and green bell peppers.
Zinc is a no-brainer! It’s vital for the growth and development of children’s brains and immune defenses. Shellfish, whole grains, legumes, and nuts are rich in zinc.
Vitamin D comes from exposure to sunshine, helping kids build stronger bones <and> immunity. Take advantage of days when the sun is shining bright! Top up with vitamin D in fatty fish like salmon or in gummy and capsule form from your local health food store.
Try it!
Dealing with a picky eater? You can still get them to try immune-boosting foods that are new to them.
- Introduce new foods when your child is hungry.
- Children are more interested in eating foods they’ve helped prepare, so involve your little one in meal prep.
- Keep offering new foods without pressure. Eventually, they just might like it.
