Want to maintain a lean, healthy physique? Drinking full-fat milk may help you slim down. According to a Swedish study, women who consistently consumed at least one serving of whole milk per day gained 15 percent less weight over a nine-year period than women who drank low-fat milk (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2006, vol. 84, no. 6). Researchers from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm tracked 19,352 women ages 40 to 55, who drank varying amounts of whole and low-fat milk. Only those who consumed one or more daily servings of whole milk netted such positive results. Researchers say whole milk’s higher concentration of conjugated linolenic acid (CLA) may be what helps women keep off the pounds.
