A multivitamin a day could keep a heart attack away
One more reason to pop that vitamin pill: Swedish researchers recently found that taking a multivitamin can reduce heart-attack risk (Journal of Nutrition, 2003, vol. 133, no. 8). After surveying nearly 3,000 men and women, ages 45 to 70, about half of whom previously had heart attacks, researchers found that those who took multivitamin supplements were less likely to experience a heart attack. Regular multivitamin use was associated with a 34 percent decrease in heart-attack risk in women and a 21 percent decrease in men.
