From pizza to pet treats, GanedenBC30 probiotic ingredient finds a home

Thanks to Ganeden and Abunda Functional Foods, kids can now have their beloved chocolate milk and enjoy the health benefits of probiotics, too. In October 2010, Ganeden partnered with Abunda to develop MojoMilk, the first probiotic chocolate milk mix on the U.S. market. MojoMilk comes in individualized stick packs that can be poured into an 8-ounce glass of milk or milk substitute, making it ideal for lunch boxes or backpacks.

Probiotics and their health benefits are no longer only for people. In December 2010, Ganeden and Sprinks Pets launched a line of chewable dog supplements featuring GanedenBC30. Regul8 Daily Probiotic and ProBio-Chew Dental Cookie are the first two products in the line, which supports digestive and immune health in canine companions.

Naked Pizza, the carry-out and delivery pizza chain born in New Orleans, offers the world's first functional pizza, which features a 12-grain, probiotic- and prebiotic-enhanced crust covered in natural toppings and tomato sauce. GanedenBC30 is the probiotic of choice for Naked Pizza, which is ready to explode, both nationally and internationally, thanks to hefty investments from The Kraft Group and billionaire Mark Cuban. The pizza company is on track to have 1,200 units in operation in North America over the next seven years.

Through a partnership announced in July 2010, Ganeden and Tropical Nut & Fruit Inc., a manufacturer of nuts, snacks, high-quality chocolate and yogurt products, are developing a series of four functional confection mixes, the first of which is a probiotic-enhanced yogurt-covered raisin snack.

Probiotics are commonplace in yogurt, and now Ganeden's GanedenBC30 can be found in milk from Guernsey Farms Dairy, a family-owned and operated dairy processing facility located in Northville, Michigan. Guernsey's line is one of only a handful of probiotic-enhanced milk lines currently available to consumers.

Functional chocolates are growing in popularity, and Ganeden is joining the game through a partnership with Agostoni Chocolate, an Italian farm-to-bar producer of natural premium chocolates. The companies developed Chocolate Plus Private Label, the first store brand functional snack program to incorporate probiotics with Agostoni's award-winning premium Italian dark chocolate.

In January 2011, the Orlando Baking Co. rolled out North America's first probiotic baking line. Called True Grains, the line features the GanedenBC30 ingredient and is the result of a two-year developmental process between Orlando Baking Co. and Ganeden Biotech.

Ganeden Biotech and Glanbia Nutritionals, a manufacturer of custom micronutrient premixes for the food, beverage, human health and personal care industries, joined forces in June 2010 to develop a new stick pack containing an immune health micronutrient premix.

In yet another market first, GanedenBC30 provided the probiotic punch for Racconto's Digestive Health pasta. Rolled out in early 2009, the probiotic–enhanced pasta joins a number of other functional pastas from Racconto.

Red Mango, the fast-growing retailer of non-fat frozen yogurt, became the first retailer to offer made-to-order probiotic iced teas in 2009. The company's three proprietary flavors incorporate GanedenBC30. Several Red Mango frozen yogurt flavors also feature Ganeden's proprietary probiotic ingredient.

Indianapolis-based Heartland Sweeteners chose GanedenBC30 as the probiotic for its probiotic-enhanced sweetener, launched in March 2009. Heartland Sweeteners said it opted to go with Ganeden's proprietary ingredient for its Nevella line because of its ability to survive manufacturing and baking temperatures and remain shelf stable.
