Because of the holistic approach to homeopathy, a patient's first visit usually lasts up to an hour. The homeopath spends time inquiring about the patient's state of mind, lifestyle and stress level, then determines treatment. This methodology is derived from Samuel Hahnemann, who believed all aspects of a person are interconnected and intercommunicating. He wrote, "The patient's emotional state should be noted as one of the most preeminent symptoms, [thereby greatly influencing] the selection of the homeopathic remedy."
