More education for consumers is needed before baobab takes off. As I understand it, in its traditional usage in Africa the pulp of the fruit is rendered as a powder or meal and mixed into drinks or foods. The whole fruit is a gourdlike affair with a stiff rind and an interior cavity filled with seeds, stringy fibers that resemble those inside a squash and what look like blobs of pulp. The pulpy portion is dehydrated by the time the fruit is gathered.</p>
