Picture (too) perfect
I'm a 39-year-old woman. I exercise regularly and eat well. I am 5 feet 9 inches and weigh 131 pounds. Years ago, I was a model. I battled eating disorders starting at age 16 and have since overcome them, and yet it is still hard to defeat old thinking patterns. Often, the media doesn't help. For example, there aren't many "real" looking women in the ads—or articles for that matter—in your magazine. In your July 2006 issue, there are only two pictures of women who look older than 20. I enjoy reading your magazine and have for some time, but I'm really tired of seeing skinny young women on every page. Let's see some real people for a change.

Allergy tamer from abroad?
We received calls from readers curious to learn more about Thymomodulin, a proprietary brand of thymus extract made in Italy that was mentioned in the article "Allergies in Full Bloom?" (May 2006).Writer Victoria Dolby Toews, MPH, responds:
"Thymomodulin is simply not sold or available in the United States. But I believe you can expect any thymus extract to act essentially the same way in the body. Try one that's available here; by monitoring allergy symptoms, you'll know whether it works for you."
